αὐτόπτης, ἀυτοπτου, (αὐτός, ὈΠΤΩ), seeing with one's own eyes, an eye-witness (cf. ἀυτηκως one who has himself heard a thing): Luke 1:2. (In Greek writings from Herodotus down.)
